VOLUNTEER Positions that Need to be Filled By

February 28th 2019


FUN RUN COORDINATORS: the PTO is looking for a group of 3 to 5 individuals to organize this year’s Fun Run on May 10th 2019. The Fun Run is the PTO’s primary fundraising event. Our Fun Run is organized through Boosterthon. Boosterthon provides a representative that works with the coordinators to prepare for the event. Boosterthon provides task lists, media & documentation and host the actual fun run event. The Fun Run Coordinators work as a liaison between the school staff, PTO and Boosterthon, completes tasks such as scheduling the grade level fun run times, Rain contingency plan, determine daily incentives, ordering t-shirts, distribute Fun Run communications, run prize reports and organize volunteers to distribute daily prizes, mark laps & distribute water during the run.


FIELD DAY CO-COORDINATOR(S): Each May we host a track and field day event for the Lakeview students. It is a fun event the students look forward to participating in each year. Our current coordinator of the event is looking for 1 to 2 people to co-coordinate the event. Co-coordinators would assist with planning, scheduling, setting up & organizing volunteers for the event.

2019-2020 PTO BOARD Positions

All PTO Board positions are open for the 2019-2020 School year. Voting to fill the new board positions takes place during our finally meeting in May of 2019. The Lakeview PTO is registered as a non-profit 501C. This allows us to fund raise for the school. In order to maintain this status and still have a PTO at Lakeview the following Board positions need to be filled President, Treasurer and Secretary. If there are no volunteers for these positions identified by March 31st, 2019 we'll need to begin the unfortunate job of working with our CPA to outline a process to dissolve the PTO for the 2019-2020 school year.


PTO PRESIDENT: The president shall preside over meetings of the organization and executive board, serve as the primary organization contact, represent the organization at outside meetings, serve as an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee, and coordinate the work of all the officers and committees so that the purpose of the organization is served.


PTO VICE PRESIDENT: the VP is a training position to transition into the PTO President. The vice president shall assist the president and carry out the president’s duties in his or her absence or inability to serve. This positions is not required to maintain 501C nonprofit status.

PTO TREASURER: The treasurer shall receive all funds of the organization, keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures, and pay out funds in accordance with the approval of the executive board. He or she will present a financial statement at every meeting, make a full report at the end of the year, and prepare (or arrange for the preparation of) the yearly IRS tax report.


PTO SECRETARY: The secretary shall keep all records of the organization, take and record minutes, prepare the agenda, handle correspondence, and send notices of meetings to the membership. The secretary also keeps a copy of the minute book, bylaws, rules, membership list, and any other necessary supplies, and brings them to meetings. Updates information on the PTO website, Bulletin Board, Facebook page & Schoology. Time commitment is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours each month.

2019-2020 EveNT COORDINATOR Positions

NEED TO IDENTIFY BY MARCH 31ST, 2019

The PTO is looking for volunteers to coordinate the following events/activities for the following 2018-2019 school year. Unfortunately if we don't have coordinators identified by March 31st, 2019 for next year we'll be forced to discontinue some of these events for next year.


ICE CREAM SOCIAL COORDINATOR: The PTO hosts an ice cream social each year in conjunction with the fall Scholastic. It’s the PTO’s way of welcoming our families and students to the new school you. Volunteers are needed to assist with setup & clean up and to scoop ice cream. The coordinator would be responsible for managing the event, purchasing supplies (ice cream, toppings, bowls, spoons, napkins & etc…) and is responsible for submitting a volunteer request for people to scoop ice cream through SignUpGenius.


BOX TOPS COORDINATOR: Lakeview PTO collects Box Tops each year to raise additional funds for the school. The Box Top program has 2 submission deadlines throughout the school year. One in November 1st and one March 1st. The PTO holds 2 Box Tops drives a year one in October to meet the November submission date & one in February to meet the March submission date. Responsibilities as coordinator include creating & sending communication about the Box Top collection drive, identify prizes options for the collection contests, communicate how we are doing, share Box Top information promo and sweepstakes, count and bundle Box Tops in groups of 50 and submit to the Box Top Program. Time commitment is 2 to 3 hours prepping for each collection drive, 2-3 hours each week during the monthly drive to collect and count the Box Tops.


YEARBOOK:


BAND BREAKFAST COORDINATOR: In January, the 5th grade Band students give a morning performance for their families to showcase what they have learned. The PTO sponsors and provides the breakfast for this event. The Band Breakfast coordinator orders the Coffee, Donuts, Pastries fruit, & Water for the event. They also organizes the set up and clean up on the day of the Breakfast. If no coordinator is identified the event may still be scheduled next year the PTO just won't be able to provide a breakfast for the families. Time commitment 1 to 2 hours prepping for the event purchasing & ordering items, 2 hours morning of the event setting, hosting and cleaning up event.


SIGNUP GENIUS COORDINATOR: Signup Genius is a volunteer sign up site we use to communicate volunteer requests for events and activities. The Signup Genius Coordinator would be responsible for posting and distributing all our Signup Genius requests for the PTO.

MYSCHOOLANYWHERE DIRECTORY COORDINATOR: MySchoolAnywhere is a family directory managed by the PTO. It's a voluntary directory that allows parents to enter their contact information with other Lakeview families for planning playdates, birthday parties etc... The MySchoolAnywhere Coordinator is responsible for renew our subscription yearly, sending communication out to families inviting them to sign up for the directory, assist with an questions, manage yearly maintenance, remind parents to update their teacher information in the new school year.

2019-2020 Shadow COORDINATOR Positions

NEED TO IDENTIFY BY April 30th 2019

The following activities and events coordinators have children moving to middle school at the end of the 2019-2020 school. 2019-2020 will be the last year they organized these events. We are looking for individual who would like to volunteer to shadow and assist these coordinators in 2019-2020 school year so they can take over coordinating these events for the 2020-2021 school year.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR COORDINATOR: Each year the PTO hosts a fall and spring Scholastic Book Fair. The book fair is a fun event that allows students to purchase books at affordable prices while earning Scholastic Dollars for teachers to use to purchase books for their classrooms. We are looking for an individual to shadow and assist the current coordinator in 2019-2020 so they can take over hosting the event for the 2020-2021 school year and future years. The coordinator is responsible for planning the event, scheduling dates, time & location with the office, organize event volunteers. Time commitment is 2 hours preparing for each book fair & 6 hours the night of the event for the event itself and wrap up.


DANCE COORDINATOR (Winter, Mother/Son, Father/Daughter Dances): The PTO hosts 3 dances in the year. A free Holiday Dance for Lakeview families as well as a Father/Daughter & a Mother/Son dance. We are looking for an individual to shadow and assist the current coordinator for 2019-2020 so they can take over hosting the event for the 2020-2021 school year and future years. The coordinator is responsible for planning the event, schedule dates, time & location with the office, organize event volunteers.


BINGO NIGHT COORDINATOR: The PTO hosts a Free Family Bingo night each February. It's a fun event to bring our Lakeview Community together and provide a free activity for families to enjoy. We are looking for an individual to shadow and assist the current coordinator for 2019-2020 to take over organizing the event for 2020-2021 school year and future years. Coordinator responsibilities include schedule time and space with the school office, organizing enough tables and seating, puchasing bingo prizes, popcorn from the Emagine theater, beverages to sell at the event. Organizing volunteers to set up, pass out prizes, call out bingo numbers, record bingo numbers called and clean up. Time commitment is about 2 hours prepping for the event and 2 hours for the night of the event.

EVENT VOLUNTEERS

Throughout the year the PTO organizes events to support the staff, students and their families. Your help is needed to make these events a success. Our volunteer coordinator's organize the event or activity and often need volunteers to assist on the day of the event. 1 to 2 weeks before a SignUpGenius request is sent requesting volunteers through Schoology, on the Lakeview PTO facebook page, & emailed to those parents register on our MySchoolAnywhere directory. Please consider signing up to help. Here are some of the events that need help during the year.


CONFERENCE MEALS & STAFF APPRECIATION: Our parents have been extremely generous in helping to supply food and supplies in order to provide meals to the teachers and staff during conferences and Staff Appreciation week. Unfortunately last year we didn’t have enough volunteers to assist with the clean up or set up and resulted in teachers staying late to clean up. Please help us to fill these spots this year so we can continue to make these meals a convenience and a show of appreciation for the Lakeview teachers and the staff.


DANCES: The PTO hosts 3 dances in the year. A free Holiday Dance for Lakeview families. As well as a Daughter & Son dances. Volunteers are often requested to assist with setup & clean up, refreshment tables, etc…
